Homeowners Association

There is an active (and strict!) homeowners association present in the Bay Pine Villa Community.  They inspect the community twice a month to maintain the integrity of the community. Common violations include dirty siding, parking infractions, and lawn violations.

The homeowners association provides lawn maintenance for the front yards of all the homes in the community but residents are required to maintain (mow & weed) the back fenced portion of their yards and maintain flower beds and shrubs in the front. 

Speaking of backyards, some of the backyards back up to another backyard, while the homes on Bay Pine Villa Dr. back up to a green belt and offers more privacy.

Not to be confused with the military dining room- This hands on science museum has Pensacola bay area youth (and parents!) talking about math, engineering, science, and stuff.

Pensacola Mess Hall opened for summer 2012 on Romana St. iner in downtown Pensacola and recently moved to a larger building nearby at 116 N Tarragona St., Pensacola, FL 32502.

According to Walkscore, Pensacola is a car dependent city!

It's no surprise to me that Walkscore, a trending website, rates Pensacola as a car dependent city, citing that most errands require a car.  Employment alone is typically a reason to have a vehicle in the Pensacola Bay area as most people commute privately to and from work.

As of 2013 data from Walkscore.com:

• Pensacola's average walk score is a 42 out of 100, given the label "car dependent" although scores per zip code varied slightly
• Downtown Pensacola's walk score was a 51.
• Gulf Breeze came in as the most walkable with a score of 75
• Milton, FL scores a 49 and labeled car dependent 
• Navarre came in the least walkable with a low score of 14, citing almost all errands require a car!

the Pensacola Bay area~ 

Walkscore.com is a website that anaylzes data to determine which city, communities and neighborhoods are most friendly to walking as the primary form of transportation. Walkability could be described as the measure of how easy or hard it is to sustain a satisfactory lifestyle without the use of personal transportation in a certain location.

I personally wouldn't feel safe walking on the majority of major roads in the Pensacola area, especially after dark.

other locations in Pensacola! 

Many intersections are missing crosswalks and don't have adequate bike lanes or sidewalks. Pedestrian deaths have occurred far too often in Escambia & Santa Rosa Counties in Northwest Florida. Be careful out there and don't text while driving.

Beyond walking and biking, there are a few affordable options for public transportation in the Pensacola Bay area including:

• Taxi
• ECAT (Escambia County Area Transit System)

Recently, the Perdido Key area was voted #2 Top Sunsets in America as voted by Rand McNally. Wow, what a great compliment for the Pensacola area!

It is my opinion that the sunrises and sunsets along the Gulf Coast are the best in the United States and that there  is no better way to start your day than with a beautiful sunrise along the Gulf Coast.

Whether you are vacationing or are a life long resident, I challenge you to set your alarm and find a spot in paradise to watch the sunrise over the Gulf of Mexico.

In June, the sun rises in Pensacola Beach around 5:45 am. You should be on the beach, at your spot, no later than 5:30 am to catch the full show.  My friend Stacy dubs the time between the first moments of light and the full sunrise "Magic Hour." The colors, clouds, and movement in the sky change rapidly the hour prior to the sun's arrival!

One of my favorite things about Perdido Key, Navarre Beach, and Pensacola Beach at this time of morning is that there are very few people awake and utilizing the beach. It creates such a relaxing and private experience and really allows you to connect with nature.

Especially in the Pensacola area, we are blessed to have several state parks including Fort Pickens, Big Lagoon, and even the Gulf Islands National Seashore which provides miles of protected beaches.

Soak up the first few rays of the morning sun while you walk on white sand beaches looking admiring natures beauty. Look for animals feeding including birds, sting ray, fish, and even dolphin.
