Pensacola: It's October and it's 80° Outside!

Fall has arrived, but the cooler weather has not made it to Pensacola!

Florida is a state with few seasons. Walk outside, and it very much feels like summer in the Pensacola area despite the official declaration of fall. And it definitely still looks like summer at Pensacola Beach!

Last week, we experienced highs like 87° and 90° and next week we are forecasted highs in the low 80° range. The majority of Florida's climate (including the Pensacola area) is classified as "humid subtropical" with different climate zones for the Southern portion of Florida.
Despite Florida being known as the Sunshine State,Pensacola has a defined rainy season which runs from June to September.  The rain comes in the form of scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially early afternoon when temperatures reach 90° and higher. 

A typical summer day brings temperatures in the high nineties with a heat index over 100°, lows in the upper 70s, and a high humidity level. After a hot and humid summer, we look forward to the cooler temperatures that October brings!

Milder temperatures bring dragonflies and butterflies to the area!

With less rain and more mild temperatures, October and November are two of the best months to visit Pensacola and Pensacola Beach. Monarch butterflies make their way through our area during November. The leaves start to change colors in November. The holidays come and go and the New Year is here before we know it.

January brings the coldest temperatures with lows in the 40s and highs in the 60s.  On average, Escambia and Santa Rosa Counties only have temperatures below freezing level 14 times per year. During winter, we never plow snow or salt our driveways, and our snowmen are constructed from sand.

The mild climate, numerous golf courses, and small town atmosphere attract thousands of snowbirds to the beaches of Perdido Key and Pensacola Beach during the winter months. Snowbirds receive discounted monthly rental rates during the "off season" when beach front condos and homes become significantly more affordable. 

By March and April, we are back at the beach in our swim suits aniticipating another beautiful, hot summer to enjoy again!
